The official opening of the CONCORDIA Tranzit center as a project of CONCORDIA Projekte Sociale, Kosovo

For more than 30 years, CONCORDIA Projekte Sociale based in Vienna / Austria has operated as an international organization with various programs implemented in five countries. Its programmes include emergency assistance, crisis centers, outreach, alternative care and accommodation for children, and training or education services to support marginalized children, youth, and families. Through its work, CONCORDIA has helped more than 7,000 users of its programs each year.

CONCORDIA Projekte Sociale has expanded its interventions in the Republic of Kosovo starting in December 2020, through the establishment of the CONCORDIA Projekte Sociale association. The programme in Prizren is to support the children of marginalized families who live in the Tranzit neighborhood in order of having access to education. CONCORDIA Tranzit Centre is dedicated to designing qualitative interventions for children and young people so that all their socio-educational needs are addressed in an integrated way.

The Transit Center was founded by the Loyola Gymnasium Association in 2018. While in January 2021, it was taken over by CONCORDIA Kosovo, thus becoming the CONCORDIA Tranzit Centre. This is a day center for children and youth of all religions and ethnic groups.
On March 30, 2021, the official opening of the operation of CONCORDIA in Kosovo was held and the continuity of the activities offered at the CONCORDIA Transit Center was marked. "CONCORDIA literally means a heart. The Greek goddess Concordia means harmony and understanding in society - a symbol which coincides very well with the essence of this project," said Dr. Bernhard Drumel, Chairman of the Board of CONCORDIA Sozial Projekte Austria.

Many guests as representatives of ministries, various institutions, NGOs, previous volunteers as well as friends and supporters of the project witnessed the unveiling of the CONCORDIA logo on the Tranzit Centre facility. The ambassadors of Austria and Germany in Kosovo sent their best wishes in electronic form, while representatives from the Liaison Office of Romania within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs participated in the event.

"It is a pleasure to see that CONCORDIA has added Kosovo to the list of countries where the organization is active. Such a thing brings a considerable level of expertise in working with children in challenging work environments in Kosovo", said His Excellency, the Austrian Ambassador to Kosovo, Mr. Christoph Weidinger.
"I want to congratulate you all for your contribution to social inclusion", said His Excellency, the German Ambassador to Kosovo, Mr. Jörn Rohde through a video message.
To conclude the event, the Children's Orchestra of the Tranzit Centre performed for the audience.
