Our guidelines for responsible and respectful image use and story creation

Storytelling has long been at the heart of the human experience as it enriches our understanding of the world, ourselves and each other. Stories interconnect us, unite us, and remind us that we are more alike than we are different. Images enhance these narratives and are fundamental to them.

In a humanitarian and development context this gives us tremendous responsibility when we curate images and stories about the people who share their personal histories with us or journalists and photographers we work with.

In this regard, these guidelines serve to uphold our vision and values by promoting human dignity and not infringing on a child or young person’s individual rights to privacy.

Above all, we must be guided by the humanitarian principle of Do No Harm and conform to the highest standards in relation to children’s rights according to the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC)’, which are reflected in our Child Protection Policy.

While participating to an event organised by CONCORDIA organisation with or about children, in our programmes as a journalist or photographer, you must follow our principles.
